The rider

Sixteen years old and Irish-bred to the game — Nathan has spent more than a decade around horses, and now rides jumps with a professional licence firmly in his sights.

His grounding is in the unglamorous end of the sport: five years of pre-training and breaking young horses, teaching them to accept a rider and find their balance before they ever see a racecourse. That patience shows in the saddle — a quiet, secure jumper who lets a horse settle into its own rhythm.

Along the way he's ridden two winners for trainer Gerald Kyne and recently graduated Level 2 at the British Racing School. Reliable, coachable and genuinely competitive, he's ready for the rides that turn an apprentice into a professional.
